Two software provide a user-friendly graphic interface to control all the AT-AWG500 functionalities. The Basic software is a ready-to-go environment to start immediately and easily with the AT-AWG500 generating the most common waveforms.
The Full software, instead, provides full support for all AT-AWG500 features in a workspace based environment with multiple display windows and advanced editing tools:
- Easy to use control and configuration
- Project navigator with multiple display window
- Complex waveform editor
- Amplitude and frequency/phase modulation editor
- Waveform sequence editor
- Noise editor
- Waveform filtering editor
- AT-AWG Quick Start Software
- LabVIEW and C/C++ SDK (Software Development Kit)

AT-AWG
Navigator
The AT-AWG Navigator allows the user to organize the workspace and manage all the AT-AWG waveform generators connected to the PC in a simple way. From two different tabs the user can easily setup the instruments or can control directly the AT-AWG generation.

The projects can be divided into 2 main categories : ARBITRARY and DDS.
The ARBITRARY mode permits to edit different arbitrary waveforms that can be generated in a user defined sequence and triggering, in this modality it is also possible to modulate the designed waveforms (carriers) on M-ASK mode. The modulating signal can also be freely edited.
The DDS mode is instead used when M-FSK or M-PSK modulations are needed. Any arbitrary carrier waveform can be modulated on frequency or phase using an freely edited modulating signal. On this modality it is also possible to edit an Amplitude to Frequency figure.
Instrument SETUP
In accord with the AT-AWG functionality (ARBITRARY or DDS) the project’s tree in the SETUP tab of the Navigator window assumes different meaning.
For the ARBITRARY projects the SETUP tab allows the user to open the tool windows in order to edit the arbitrary waveforms shape (Waveform Editor), to organize the sequence of generation for the waveform and choose the triggering mode (Generation Sequence), to edit the modulating behaviour for the M-ASK modulation (Modulation Editor) and for setting up the Trigger In/Out, the overload protection, Attenuator, Filters, AT-XSS expansion bus … (Control Settings).
For the DDS projects in the SETUP tab the user can edit the carrier waveform (Waveform Editor), edit the modulating waveform for FSK or PSK modulation (Modulation Editor), edit the Amplitude to Frequency figure (Amplitude Profile Editor) and like in the ARBITRARY mode all settings for the input/output connectors can be easily set up in the Control Settings tool’s window.
Instrument CONTROL
In the CONTROL tab of the Navigator window each AT-AWG can be controlled by means of the USB communication. By selecting the tree branch related to the connected AT-AWG the user can upload the project settings in the AT-AWG hardware (UPLOAD button), Start or Stop the generation of the uploaded waveforms (START and STOP buttons) or can directly control the output voltage using the DC OUTPUT CONTROL window (DC OUTPUT button).

AT-AWG Quick Start
AT-AWG Quick Start software has been designed to give at the user an alternative simple plug and play solution to control a single AT-AWG. Abstracting some of the AT-AWG functionalities such as the ability to edit more than one waveform, markers generation or AT-XSS capability the quick start software allows the user to use AT-AWG like a powerful function generator but including most of the functionalities of a fully arbitrary waveform generator.
Software Development Kit ( AT-AWG500 C/C++ LabVIEW SDK)
The AT-AWG 500 LabView SDK provides an easy way to create customizable AT-AWG software using LabVIEW™ graphical development software or creating application using an AT-AWG dedicated windows DLL. This allows an easy to do integration with test equipments that use LabVIEW™ as software interface.
