The 14th International Particle Accelerator Conference (IPAC23) will be held in Venice, Italy from 7 to 12 May 2023 at the Venice Convention Centre, as a fully in-person event.

IPAC is the main international event for the worldwide particle accelerator field and industry. The IPAC23 edition is jointly organized by the accelerator communities in Europe, Americas and Asia and is hosted by Istituto Nazionale di Fisica Nucleare and Elettra Sincrotrone Trieste. Attendees will learn about world-wide highlights in cutting-edge accelerator research and development, hear about new projects, gain the latest insights into accelerator facilities across the globe and, last not least, will have the opportunity to meet their peers and to make new business contacts. Over 1,200 delegates and 80 industry exhibitors are expected to attend this remarkable and noteworthy event. IPAC23 will offer the most complete review on new ideas, important results and ground-breaking technologies in the field of particle accelerator science and technology. All this is in one week! From 3-5 April 2023, the Institute of Physics will be bringing together the UK High Energy Particle Physics and Astroparticle Physics communities for a joint annual conference. The meeting will feature invited talks from major national and international speakers, as well as extensive opportunities for contributed talks. A poster session will take place to showcase work and discoveries, and updates and discussions with senior members of the Science and Technology Facilities Council will be provided at a town meeting.

Active Technologies, in cooperation with Southern Scientific, shows a set of  Arbitrary Waveform Generators and Fast Pulse Generators that can be used as readout testing systems.

How To Avoid Phase Discontinuity in Arbitrary Waveform Generators

Phase discontinuity

The most common arbitrary waveform generation use case is to play back a waveform that is finite in length and repeat it continuously. Although often overlooked, a phase discontinuity between the end of a waveform and the beginning of the next repetition can lead to periodic spectral regrowth and distortion. This problem is also known as waveform discontinuity as described in this article.

Active Technologies True-Arb AWG software recently introduced a new unique feature called Parametric Waveforms to avoid this problem and to simplify the waveforms’ creation.
The Parametric waveforms simplify and speed up the creation of custom waveforms and now you can generate easily and in a flexible way, the signals for the most demanding applications, avoiding phase discontinuity.
The phase discontinuity produces a noticeable increase in distortion components in addition to the line spectra normally representative of a single sinewave.
